Employment Support & Advice

Opportunity Lambeth is working with the DWP and partners to urgently advertise employment opportunities for local people, both on the website and through a regular newsletter to providers.

To register for employment support, please call 020 7926 0500 or go to Opportunity Lambeth - Support and Click on the 'Get Help' button . This will take you through a short registration and a few simple questions; you will then be contacted by one of the team to make sure you get the help you need

Welfare advice & financial help

Financial help from the council

If you are claiming benefits or experiencing financial hardship, the council may be able to help.

Emergency Support Scheme can help with food, fuel, furniture and white goods for households facing a crisis or emergency.

Discretionary Housing Payments can help make up rent payments where benefit payments do not cover the full cost.

Council Tax Support can help reduce Council Tax bills for people on low incomes.

Discretionary Council Tax Support Hardship Payment scheme for those experiencing specific financial hardship.

Emergency Support Scheme

The Lambeth Emergency Support Scheme provides in-kind support wherever possible rather than cash grants, and may be available to you if you are a Lambeth resident experiencing a crisis or an emergency.

Food Banks

If you are struggling to buy food and need some help, please contact your local food bank. Lambeth Larder can also support with emergency food, advice and support.

Redundancy Support

To get support and advice about claims for redundancy, loss of notice pay, holiday pay, arrears of wages, protective award payments and lost pension contributions, contact Redundancy Payments.The helpline (0330 331 0020) is open 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm Monday to Thursday, and 9am to 1pm on Friday.

Tree Shepherd

Tree Shepherd are offering ongoing virtual and telephone business clinics and are setting up calls with business mentors to provide advice for businesses impacted by coronavirus. Their experts have extensive experience in all aspects of business support, so please do get in touch to organise a phone call or online meeting: info@treeshepherd.org.uk

Support for self-employed

The Government has announced a package of support for self-employed people affected by the impact of Covid-19. Those who are self-employed may be eligible for a taxable grant worth 80% of their trading profits, up to a maximum of £2,500 per month for the next 3 months.

Further support from the Government could include claiming Universal Credit and deferral of payments for self-assessment income tax payments.

The self-employed may also qualify for help with business rates and other grants as part of the council's Business Support programme

Disability & mental health support

SLaM Improving Access to Psychological therapies

SLaM are offering online/telephone/skype support if suitable for your needs. For urgent help, contact your GP, the SLAM crisis line on 0800 731 2864 or the Samaritans on 116 123

DASL: Disability Advice Service Lambeth

Disabled people, including those with mental health support needs, older people and carers (mainly in Lambeth), can access support from the Disability Advice Service Lambeth who offer support and guidance by telephone 020 7501 8960

Domestic Violence Support

Lambeth residents who are survivors of gender based violence, including domestic and sexual violence can access support from The Gaia Centre. They are providing 1:1 support via telephone and email during a time where survivors may feel additionally isolated and at risk due to coronavirus.
